Athlete Profiles

Black Belt

Mike

Prudencio Mike is One World's Jiu-Jitsu Instructor. He is always ON the mat with his students from start to finish.  His dedication to the advancement of his student's skills is second to none. He seldom misses the opportunity to coach his athletes during tournaments and is often seen before and after class giving extra advice to help individual students tighten their game. He expects nothing less than 100% effort from his students, the same amount he puts in.

Brown Belt

Corrales

CorralesThe first and only Faixa Marrom under Mike Prudencio. Although he's a light featherweight, he feels like he's 250 lbs when he's got a "knee-on-belly" on you, which happens often. With his busy life, Corrales graces us with his presence and superb technique when he has the free time to join us on the mat.

Blue Belts

Absolute

Aki As One World’s smallest guerrilla, Aki has used his knowledge of the human body to easily submit his opponents with the “abnormal.” Watch out because he will catch you slipping! With a background of Judo, Wrestling, Jiu-Jitsu, and Dog Whispering, Aki is one not to be messed with!

Atsushi

Atsushi Head instructor of the Judoka class, Atsushi helps bring out the “Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu” at One World. Always busy, you can catch him at work at the Voodoo Lounge in San Jose OR on top of the roof at PF Chang’s… and NO, HE DOES NOT LOOK LIKE JACOB FROM TWILIGHT!

Dan the Man

Dan

Dan the Man, now “Dan the Dad”, brings great technique along with comedy to the tatame. He’s an avid reader of the Gracie Mag along with assorted Jiu-Jitsu videos, which adds to his game. He is not hard to spot as he is always flossing his new threads.

D-Bo

SmOWO If you heard his name, you’d think of the intimidating guy from the movie Friday. Although D-Bo is one of One World’s biggest guerrillas, he is one of the most humble guys you will ever meet. Always ready to learn, D-Bo’s game is truly “technique over power.” A true martial artist!

Fookie

Fookie Fookie is our most prolific competitor and is on the podium at the end of almost every tournament he has participated in. Cool and collected, he uses his Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, Kickboxing, Jedi, and Capoeira skills to dominate his opponents.

Isaac M

Isaac M Being One World’s second youngest faixa azul, Isaac brings the definition of “flexibility” to the mats. With his elastic limbs, he brings another side of Jiu-Jitsu to the mats, which isn’t possible for most. If he’s not in the gym, he’s with his hubby dubby or cookin it up at Panera Bread.

Jimmy

Jimmy1 Jimmy likes long island iced teas, karaoke, and long walks on the beach. At the US Open XIV BJJ tournament in October 2009, Jimmy submitted three opponents with an injured hand to win first place. 'Nuf said.

Karl

Karl Krazy Karl is crazy! He’s been a dedicated student on the mat since he stepped into the gym, consistently in class, which is why he learns so quickly. With the stamina of the energizer bunny, he brings the pressure. When Karl is not on the mat, you can catch him at the Starbucks on Union Landing with his street bike crew, The Delinquents.

Kimura

Kimura Will is a beast! Hi gives 100% effort in whatever he does, be it Jiu-Jitsu, CrossFit, or just plain eating a burrito. He took a little vacation from Jiu-jitsu but has come back to the mats hard! Entering competition after competition, he was always coming out on top. With his additional regimen of Crossfit workouts, his physical and mental toughness reigns supreme.

Meaty

Meaty They call him Meaty. He weighs in at about 140 lbs, though you wouldn't know it the way he eats anything and everything! Along with Jimmy, Mikee, PJ, and Zvi, he is one of Mike’s first blue belts. When not on the mat, Meaty spends his spare time creating content for and updating this site, to his wife's chagrin.

Mikee

Mike Imperial "Pain is weakness leaving the body." Once a Marine, always a Marine. Hoorah!! Along with Mikee's blue belt in Jiu-Jitsu, he has an extensive background and years of experience in kickboxing! You can catch his open kickboxing classes Monday nights after Jiu-Jitsu.

PJ

PJ

The Filipino who thinks he’s Brazilian, PJ lives the life of Arte Suave. He’s one of the smallest guys in the gym, but with a combination of fast movement and flexibility, he has adapted well to the game like his icon, Marcelo Garcia. He is also great with kids and teaches the kid's Jiu-Jitsu class at One World.

Savage

Kyle Eighteen going on invincible. Kyle, aka Savage, is One World's youngest blue belt, but don't let the age fool you! With his consistent training and dedication on the mat, he's a top competitor with a high percentage of submission finishes.

The Spaniard

Louis1

THIS IS… SPARTA!!! Louie aka The Spaniard, is who they made the movie 300 after. He is part of the infamous Hung brothers and is a black belt in Judo. He is not hard to find as he is the only one in the gym with veins coming out of his back. “Yeah Budddy!”

Tank

Tank1 Originating from the islands of Hawaii, Andy is the younger of the Hung bros. He is a black belt in Judo and fills in for Atsushi from time to time. Tank has also demonstrated his Jiu-Jitsu skills in competition. You can most likely catch him and his brother Louie hiking Mission Peak on Sunday with various heavy objects... like a 40 lb heavy bag. “Ain’t nothing to it, but to do it.”

Tom

Tom Tom first stepped foot in One World in 2008 as a Royce Gracie blue belt from the East Coast. With his arsenal of Judo and Jiu-Jitsu, he has quickly adapted to the Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu way and has a great attitude on and off the mat. Just make sure that he has his morning cup of coffee first.
