... you'd better watch your neck! Paul Schreiner showed those who were present a handful of ways to more effectively attack it. (Watch out for Fookie!) It was all about the fundamentals... Dave has been emphasizing the same thing. The position of every part of your body makes such a big difference... your grips, elbows, hips, head, feet, and your weight distribution all need to work together. The techniques he showed were ones we are all familiar with already but he broke them down and added a few details to make them more efficient and effective. Even the few techniques that Paul showed regarding the mount were eye-opening. I definitely had several "AHA" moments during the seminar. Even the warm-up drills he showed provided new insight and understanding to how we move on the mat. The one problem that I foresee right now is trying to remember everything he taught us.
A big THANK YOU to Paul Schreiner for teaching the seminar and to Mike for setting it up. That was awesome! Can we do it again? Maybe after the holidays?!?
Paul Schreiner's instructions were detailed and insightful. He was also very gracious in answering all our questions. He showed a few extra techniques like the North/South Guillotine (It was SWEEET!) and a little something on omnoplatas and x-guard defense. (This is why you should have a Jiu-Jitsu journal.) He stayed for about an hour extra after the seminar just to roll with anyone who wanted to roll with him. Everyone got a chance and a couple of us got to roll with him twice. No matter what your belt level is, his seminar will improve your game so take it if you get the opportunity to do so.
Paul is available for seminars and private instruction. He can be reached at: paul@eltechnico.com or by phone 831 419 2292
If you have photos from the seminar, send them to me and I will post them here.
REMINDER: One World will be closed on Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving!!!
See you on the mat!

the gym will be open Saturday as well...there might be open mat on Friday if anyone is interested. as far as the Alex vs Torres fight Alex makes no excuses but I know he didnt train for that fight and wanted to flying armbar (a move he never practiced) Torres...bad strategy and no training never pays off. Alex did beat Miguel in the finals of the jiu-jitsu pan-ams blue belt a year or two before there mma match.
